My great grandmother is a McAllister who married a Hugues from Ireland. They immigrated to Canada around the mid 1890's. I've been researching this side of my family sporadically for two years now. I've found a crest at the highland games in Montreal this year and would like to know what it means: it represents either an eagle or griffon it's wings and talons spread out - red - on yellow background with six fleurs de lys (white) on the surrounding black border. The symbolism intrigues me. Thanking you in advance for any information you could forward me.

My maternal great grandfather, Archibald McAlister, came from Cushendal, Nothern Ireland to Charleston, SC in 1870.He had nine children, some stayed in Charleston, one went to Texas, One went to California and my grandfather, Charles Stewart McAlister, went to Greenville, SC. I just returned from a trip to Cushendall where I found four third cousins. If you think you have any connection, please email me as above. Thanks to the web master. LLF

It's been a while since last I visited the Clan site and love the new format. I was quite surprised when "green" didn't pop up at me. It's always fun to see who's visited and where they're from. Betty-R01

hello from northern ireland. my maternal grandmother was mary ann mcallister, and i have been able to trace my lineage back to my great great great grandfather, ephraim mcallister, born about 1780. Settled in Carrickfergus, County Antrim. Possibly from Scottish Western Isles, a generation or so earlier??

My great grandfather was James H. McAllister born in 1838 in Ohio. I cannot find out where, or his pedigree. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I want to find the links to pass on to my kids - my dad was killed just before I was born, and the McAllister side is very vague. My grandfather was Kanab County Sheriff at the turn of the century. I qualified to command nuclear submarines. My oldest son ran the San Francisco United Airlines facility (operations/flights/maintenance). My Younger son obtained his "Professional Engineer" STAMP when he was in his late 20's. Our "baby" daughter (32) is in Pfyzer Research as a "coordinator" ? These kids need to know - they are not guilty because they are special - look at the genetic trail of who and what McAllisters have been. They are responsible to know - and THEN to go on with it... or sit-it-out.
