Hi all I am son of Coy McAlister of Roseburg, OR. formerly of Arkasas. His twin brother is Roy McAlister and my grandpa and grandma was Ike and Stella McAlister. Does anyone out there remember my family? I don't know anything beyond Ike and Stella. Please help if you can.
My grandparents are James and Mary McAlister. They lived in Bostic, NC for many years. Now, they reside in Franklinton, NC with my father Louis Mcalister and wife Peggy McAlister. Please send me more information on my family heritage.
Here is a letter from James D. McAlister, 40 Schaefer DR., Dover, AR 72837. Ph. 1-479-967-8356. The letter is in regards to Old Lake Cemetery, Dover, AR. This is the Cemetery where William Crawford McAlister, the progenitor of the WC01 line, and his wife Mary Webb are buried. Due to the length of the letter, parts of it have been edited. To: The descendants and concerned citizens of the deceased in Old Lake Cemetery, Located north of Dover, AR. In the late 1990's Sonat Oil and Gas built a road through the Cemetery property without remorse or thought for those buried here. In addition to the road the property owner tried to acquire the South portion by acquiescence. I and others spoke up against this action and an injunction by the Lynch family (Owners of Property adjacent to the Cemetery) was issued against me, my wife and two others, who are now deceased, E+AL, d/b/a Old Lake Cemetery Board. It has taken several years to get this in Court and finally on March 18, 2004 a decision was handed down by Court Order #E-98-646, that we the defendants (IE: Old Lake Cemetery Association) is the vested owner of said land located in Pope Co., AR. Also lands adjacent to the North line containing graves were also awarded to the Cemetery. At this time there are 220 known graves at this site, including 28 Confederate Soldiers. They are marked by memorial markers donated by the United Daughter of the Confederacy. There is a lot of Love, History and Joy in this old resting place and a lot of lost persons that need to be identified. Please contact all the descendents you can and come to a meeting of Old Lake Cemetery at the recreational facilities of the Dover Assembly of God Church June 12, 2004. Some of the people are calling this a family reunion. There will be a Pot Luck lunch at noon. Drinks will be provided. We will discuss Cemetery problems and elect new Officers. Please, if you are interested in the protection of Your Cemetery and have some ideas, come to the meeting or contact me. Sincerely, James D. McAlister. Note: Jim is a descendant of Elizabeth McAlister the E01 line and his wife, Helen is a descendant of the William Crawford McAlister line. The above letter is only half of the story. They have put in a lot of hard work on this cemetery, which was abandoned 8 years ago. They deserve your support and a word of confidence.
Nice Site. If you look through the UK electoral role there are few McAlisters in England, and even less in Scotland. However in Belfast (N Ireland) there are over 100. I have only looked at the one spelling "McAlister" and appreciate the loose spelling that was one used. My family history trace back to the glass industry in Yorkshire and then to the NE of England (Durham, South Shields area) where I still have relatives. Best wishes Keith McAlister

His father was (Colin McAlister) was born 1886 in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa who married Mary Hilda (nee Bush) on 26 April 1911, who was born in Hurstville, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, date unknown, however, suspect somewhere in the 1880s. My father had two two siblings a younger brother that we know nothing of and a older sister Verna Hilda Myhill McAlister born 3 February 1912 at Seapoint, Capetown South Africa, who died at Southport, Queensland, Australia in 1965/1966. My father was married to Catherine (nee Jones), their marriage took place at Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia 3 February 1954. My mother was born 20 October 1926 in Tremadoc, Wales and she died 17 February 1965 at Portmadoc, Wales. I was born 4 January 1955 at Broken Hill, Northern Rhodesia and my younger brother was born 5 July 1957 at Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia. If anybody has any information that might be assistance, it would be of great help to both my brother (Brian) and myself.

Ock Aye to all fellow Clan members.I run Clan Macalister here in Australia.I am a cousin to Angus Macalister at Glenbarr Abbey, our Clan Centre in Kintyre,Scotland.I am descended from the Strathaird line of Macalisters, the senior brother to Glenbarr. The other brothers were General Keith Macalister of Torrisdale & Loup, and Colonel Norman Macalister of Clackhaigh,Governor of Prince of Wales Island--now Penang. My family line number is J10.I have a website for Mc,MacA,McAll, Macalisters ,etc at www.vicnet.net.au/~clanmaca Please check it out,and E/M and/or fax me to say Gooday cobber.I set up our Macalister Clan tent at most of the Highland games and Celtfests atBeechworth and Ringwood, Victoria ,and Bundanoon New South Wales, and attend Scottish Week in Sydney.I have also had erected a Macalister Standing Stone,Number 12 East at the GlenInnes Ring Of Standing Stones in central N.S.W.My ancestors came from the Isle of Skye, where they were from the middle of the 16th century, having originated from the Kintyre peninsular before that. 'Strathaird'on Skye,was/is an estate of 18,500acres which was purchased by my ancestor Alexander Macalister in 1789--the year of the French revolution. The world famous Cuillan Mountains run along it`s northern border, and Mt.Blaven overlooks Strathaird house, which in turn looks out over Loch Slappin. The estate stretches from Torrin to Elgol at the end of the Strahaird peninsular, and also contains the famous grotto spar cave written of by Sir Walter Scott in his poem,'The Lord of the Isles',canto 111.It was to Strathaird that Flora MacDonald guieded Bonnie Prince Charles Edward Stuart to after the defeat at Culloden in 1746,where he was concealed in another secret cave until he made good his escape in a French frigate.Flora MacDonald was also bridesmaid to my ancestor`s wedding,as she was a cousin to Anne MacDonald who married Ranald Macalister in 1741.They had 14 children of which Alexander Macalister was the eldest. He married firstly Mary Campbell and they had a son(who died young) and a daughter--Jannette who later married her cousin Dr,Duncan Macalister of the 'Tarbert'line of Macalisters, who were Constables(Keepers) of 'Tarbert Castle',built by Robert the Bruce, thus uniting the 'Tarbert' and 'Strathaird' lines. They had 13 children, one of which,Lachlan Macalister, the 5th son born, was the first Macalister to come to Australia age 18,as an Ensign(Lieut.)in the 48th Regt.Foot.in 1817,when Australia was only 29 years settled.I am descended from Lachlan`s eldest brother,Surgeon Alexander Macalister, who married in 1815 in Georgetown,British Guyana,a Catherine Mewburn--maiden name DE-Berg or De -Brugh.Her family had vast sugar plantations in Demerara. They had 11 children,of which all of the surviving children came out to Australia to help Lachlan with his pastoral proporties . Lachlan Macalister was responsable for discovering and pioneering the Gippsland area in Victoria in 1839/40.and the Macalister River in Gippsland commemmorates that.He died in 1855.Keep up the good work Clan Macalister America.Hey,when are we going to have a combined Clan Gathering? How about it? I am from the J43 line. Well at least that is what we think. I descend from Joseph (b)1818, married Elizabeth McCallister in 1845, Cabell Co WV. Elizabeth was the granddaughter of James s/o Richard 1756, s/o James of Ireland (J04). We believe, but need more researching, that Joseph of 1818 was the son of Joseph, s/o YET ANOTHER, James McCallister. Would love to meet others of this line. Always enjoy visiting this site.
Thank you to all the people that have worked so hard to keep this site up. Keep up the good work.

This fort is so FANTASTIC!! After we saw the video and then walked out to see the fort we could just "sense" and "imagine" the guns going off,men yelling for more ammo! It just seemed so real to us. The place is unique with it's underground munitions room, the mounds and WOW what a view of the Ogeechee River! The camp grounds are unique in how they are away from civilization. I really like that! The museum is well kept with any information you could ever need about what happened here. The gift shop has neat things that the soldiers and people of that time had!!! Thank God for the men who faught so hard here! We had moved here 9 years ago and just recently found this TREASURE!What a time, what a place! I won't forget it!! sincerely, Willa
My great-grandfather was Neil McAlister who was born in Campbeltown,Scotland and came to Mobile, Al. in the 1850s. He was listed in a ships log in the geneology dept. of the Mobile public library. He may have traveled with a brother named Duncan. We have a family bible that belonged to him and when his children were listed the spelling was McAlister but my grandfather (his son) spelled it McAllister.
With so many spellings of this name it has been a real challenge to make progress in my research. Thanks for all you are doing to bring McClester (McAlister) information together!
So proud to be a McAlister and will always keep it in my name. Great website. A pleasure to have met the man that started the Clan McAlister of America and his wife. Will be checking this site often.

My Great great Grandfather Reverend William Shaw came out to South Africa in 1816 and founded the Methodist Church in South Africa. Reverend William Shaw's "Chain of Mission Stations" shaped "the minds and characters of generations of our people as well as many of our present leaders." Nelson Mandela Umtata, 18 September 1994. Not to be confused with the Reverend William Shaw who was born in Barton, England, and went to America in late 1700's or early 1800's where he settled in western Maryland. Great Grandfather Reverend William Impey (1818-1896) Born in Whitby, England, on 22 February, arrived in South Africa 1839. In addition to being superintendent of Weslayan missions, became principal of the Healdtown Institution near Fort Beaufort, where he lived. He married to Mary Elizabeth, daughter of the Rev. Wm. Shaw and they had three sons and five daughters. Known for his collection of insects. Grandfather Reverend James McAllister was born in Glasgow on 8th September 1871, according his birth certificate issued by the District of High Church in Glasgow - now called the Church of Scotland. When he came out to South Africa with the Methodist Church he preached at the Methodist Church in Dundee, KwaZulu-Natal. James McAllister had two children with Impey's daughter, Marjorie and Eric Horton. After her death James re-married and had two more sons, Alan and Douglas, also gave birth to various sons and daughters. My Father Eric Horton McAllister married Ethel May Bishop. He was born 10th December 1910, Dundee, Natal and was a teacher of Commercial subjects and the famous Lovedale Missionary Station. My father was named after our Uncle - Horton Impey of Plumstead, Cape Town. In 1938 he married my Mother. My mother immigrated to South Africa in 1936 and started to work at Lovedale Hospital and became Sister Tutor. My Mother and Father had two sons, John and Desmond. My brother John Impey McAllister and Elize Christina Engelbrecht. John and Elize where married on 31st May 1979. John is today a freelance specialist tour guide living in Wakkerstroom in Mpumalanga and I take groups of mostly foreign bird watchers on tours throughout South Africa. Grandfather Bishop Grandfather Bishop was born in Hull, England. He had a chain of grocery stores in South Wales which went bust during the Great Depression of the 1930s. He also farmed at Summerford Grange Farm near Mudeford. The farm was where the Bristol Aircraft factory is or was situated. I am looking for more information about my Grandfather Reverend James McAllister. My Webb site is http://w1.858.telia.com/~u85837825/ Regards to all
Just thought I would get in on this to. This is great what you have got going on here. Take care everyone.
Thank you for providing such an succinct account of the life of our Scottish hero Sir William Wallace. (Despite my surname I am a patriotic Scot with all my relatives born here for as far back as I can trace. I am genetically linked to surnames such as MacKay, Murray, Hunter, Ramsey and the Ayrshire name of Underwood.) If any of you out there visit the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park (Scotland's first)and call in at the tourist information centre at Lomond Shores at a place called Balloch, I would like to draw your attention to an information board situated on a wooden walkway which surrounds the Tourist Information building. It purports to explain why one of the islands on Loch Lomond is called "Wallace's Island" and the explanation goes something like this. "The island is so called because Sir William Wallace took refuge there after defeating the English at the Battle of Stirling Bridge". Anyone with the slightest degree of intelligence would work out that after such a major victory Wallace would have had no need to seek refuge of any sort. It makes it appear to visitors that Wallace was a mere bandit who suddenly appeared, defeated the English, and then nipped back into hiding. In fact as we know Wallace became a leading figure in Scotland ultimately becoming Guardian of Scotland for a time. Despite my protests to the Lomond Shores Authority, this notice has not been corrected. Such innaccacies are to found in the plethora of information boards going up all over the country. It would appear that amateurism rules in respect of history. Dedicated pariotic historians such as David Ross should be consulted on such interpretitve facilities and stop the perpetuation of such errors.

I've never met my grandfather his first name was/is Sherwin. My grandmother and he had a war time romance and my mother was born Margaret McAllister in April 1945 so Sherwin would have been in New Zealand 1944ish he was a corporal in the US army I beleive. They split up after my mother was born. Sherwin Mc Allister would be if he's still alive 80-86 years old now. He was a big man 6'5. I'm sad I never met him and his family but he didn't want contact with my mother or her family after seperation. My parents live in Concord, CA my mother is a US citizen.

McAlasters RULE
I am greatly pleased to have stumbled apon this site. It was known that there was Scottish blood in this line, but I wasn't aware it went this far! My sisters & I have always had this longing for Scotland & I have always been facinated with the Mid-Evil period, being castles & such. So now I understand where that longing came from....... A large part of the McAlister clan resides in Piedmont & Patterson Missouri. Here are SOME of the relatives that have lived here as far as I know... Frank & Emma Mcalister Luke, Mib, Dorma Lee(Berry), Jean (Shelton),& Lysander(JACK) McAlister Wayne, Leta(Henson) & Steve McALister Lee McAlister Frank McAlister Sarah(Cumins), Rachel(Lazenby) & Rebecka(Hanger) McAlister Bruce, Elizabeth, Gordon, Tim & David McALister This is four generations of the same family line. If anyone has any information on this line of McAlisters or has any questions, please email me at laralyn@show-me.net. THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE...............
I really think it is neat that I am most likely a decendent of the scottish clan McAlister. I have a strong interest in our family history and have always wondered where the McAlisters began. It was said that we had Scottish ancestors, but we didn't know much beyond our great-great grandparents. I will pass this website on to the rest of my McAlister family, thank you.-Rachel-

Charles McAllister and his wife Mary Jane of Brooklyn,NY, were my greatgrandparents. They had three sons,Charles jr.John and James, and a daughter Elizabeth (my grandmother). They worked on the piers in Brooklyn and lived on Ried Street in 1880-1890.I would like to hear from anyone with possible connection...
My Alexanders are known to have come from Ulster. We believe that the progenitor was John Alexander found as a tenant on land called Eredy belonging to James Cunningham, Esq. from Argyll. Most researchers say that this John was the son of Archibald McAlister of Tarbert castle found in document of 1631 in which he gives Sir William Alexander of Stirling the chiefship of the Alexander/MacAlister Clan. Others contend that a Highlander could not have been given land in Ulster as that was only allocated to the Lowlanders. Is that a fact? I was wondering if anyone else is studying this line. We have as sons, Archibald, Robert, John jr, William and Andrew. William is thought to be the father of the seven sons who migrated to Somerset Md about 1688. Helen Smith Waco, Tx HelenSm@aol.com
I would like to know who submitted the Descendants of Richard McAllaster (RO4)? I am excluded from this line. However, my father and siblings are included! I'm curious to know where they got this information! My address is 415 West Highway 56,Lyons,Ks.67554. Thank You, Barbara
Dear Ms. Corbin:
Thank you for your entry in the CMA Guestbook. Unfortunately, you did not leave an email address. In any event, the data were supplied to the CMA by William (Bill) Worth who, as you may have noticed from the page, recently passed away. I am unaware of his source of information but posted it at his request. If you would like changes made to include or exclude your family members, I'd be happy to comply with your wishes. To facilitate this process, please review the "Guidelines for Authors" page (https://www.clanmcalister.org/cma-guidelines.html) for an easy procedure. I look forward to hearing from you.

I just discovered today exactly how my grandmother ended up with the middle name McAlister. My sister named her daughter, who is now almost 10 yrs. old, Jessica McAllister, without even knowing how the name came to be ours. I am so thrilled to have found you. My Great grandmother was Maud Rue Smith (b. 1884/5 in Utah, USA). She was the daughter ofPresbyterian minister Rev. John Andrew Livingston Smith (b. 1853 Craoss Roads, PA, USA) and Mary Louisa Alexander (d/o Joseph Henry Alexander of Cecil Co. MD, USA). Joseph was the son of David, who was the son of James Jr., obviously his father was James B. Allexander Sr., who was the son of William (Sir?) Alexander, born in Eredy, Ireland (He was the Earl of Stirling). Williams father, was John Alexander Sr, originally from Tarbet, but settled in Co. Donegal, Ireland. His father was Archibald, 4th Lard of Tarbet, and Chief of the Clan McAlister in 1631. I hope I have this geneaology right. Archibald's father was Hector, 3rd lard of Tarbet, and son of Charles McAlister, 2nd Lard of Tarbet. Charles was the son of Angus, aka John Angus of Lowb. Angus' father was John, Last Lord of the Isles and husband of Elizabeth Livingstone.
I just found this site and hope that I will be able to find some info on my grandparents. thanks for your site.

I would like to find out about my lineage. My father's name was David Joseph McAlister, his father- Benjamin Franklin McAlister- his father-David McAlister. Benjamin's wife, Alma Rogers. They all hail from the Pelzer, Greenville area of South Carolina. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Also, the only story about the link to Ireland/Scotland was that a Joseph Rogers and a David McAlister came to America from Ireland on the same boat. Now that I'm thinking about it, there's a story about a McAlister getting chased by Indians across the Red River in Oklahoma thus founding "McAlester" Oklahoma. I love this website! Very informative. I wish all major surnames who immigrated from other countries would do this for their family history records. It would be so much help to families in search of their genealogy. Bless you for doing this with the clan McAllister and related spellings of the name.
I would like to know if you have any listings for a Donald Randolph McAllister? His father was Robert Daniel and mother Edna Wilkerson. Thank you Brenda

Hi!! My name is as above. Born in Dumfries Scotland, in 1973 which makes me now...29. Interesting Page!!! Keep up the good work! Jase
The last time I made an entry in the guest page I left a few misstakes. This is because I was in a hurry and very tired. Also s sense that time I made some inquiries as to the name of my Father's Father, it is William Fredrick Sanders. My Father who's name is Truman Ernest Sanders and his Brothers are William F. Sanders Jr., Westly Sanders and Charles Sanders. As I said before that their Mother was Robert (yes Robert) Jane Snow, who was full blooded Cherokee. My Grandfather went on the reservation at about 1908-09 and aquired himself a 14 yr.old bride, htey then moved to the Gainesville, Mo. area where my Father was born. After my Grandfather died in the 30's My GrandMother married a man by the name of Slateter, after he died she married a man named D. Holiday. Now if any of this helps any one then just maybe tat person can shedd some light on the Forefamilies of William Fredrick Sanders Sr. my Grandfather whom I never met as he died bfore I was born and that was 1937. Yours aye Lyle L. Sanders

I don't know my Grandfather's first name on my Father's Side, But he did go onto the Cherokee Lands in OK. back about 1909, and aquired himself a Cherokee wife, my Grandmother. Her name was Robert (yes Robert) Jane Snow, she was 14 yrs old. My Father was born 1910, Sept, 3rd in Gainsville Mo. He had 3 Brothers William, Charles and Westlie. So if any of this helps any one-good- then you might help me fill in my gaps. My Mother is a Robertson and I do belong to The Clan Donnachaidh of The Pacific Northwest.

Thanks for this interesting information. My husband is Danny Earl McAllister. We presently live in Pigeon Forge, TN. His father is Hoyt Curtis McAllister. Danny's grandfather was John Milton McAllister,a Holiness Church preacher at Rocky Branch Holiness Church, in Guntersville, Alabama. We have two daughters and one son ,John Daniel McAllister, and he has one son, Ashton Kale McAllister. Sort of odd, isn't it, only one male in each generation of our McAllister group?
I just got into this and I think is is the greatest and after I figure how to follow this it will be even greater. Thanks James J. McAllister

My great grandfather's first wife is known to us as Elizabeth R. McClester (born 1826, died 1853). My family has had no success in trying to find or trace her surname or lineage. IS HER MAIDEN NAME, McClester, ONE OF THE MANY VARIATIONS IN THE McALISTER CLAN OF NAMES ?

Just a wee hello from a McAllister back in Scotland.
Dear Webmaster, Have you been told lately how great your work here on the CMA is? I'm sure the oodles of people searching for ancestral revelations can use your help or that of one of the line coordinators or the genealogy committee of the CMA, right? Wouldn't it be even better that they join Clan McAlister of America?? It's easy and quite affordable, right? Only $15!! Besides, the treasurer is a fine lad that I've gotten to know well over these past 45 or so years!!! Come on, lads and lassies. It's a logical step!! Keep up the great work, Robert C., er, Idaho Bob!! It was great seeing you in Huntsville!
For Yvonne McCollister. Your CMA Query of July 2 was returned because of your defective email address. My reply to your query reads as follows:"I have checked your genealogical information in the CMA computer data base, and have found a link to your family. Emry Archibald and Abigail V. Marsh are listed in the CMA data base as R04-1-1-5-3, meaning that he was a great great grandson of the progenitors, Richard and Ann Miller McAllister. The data base also lists Eugene R.(b. 26 Oct 1853) and Rose A.McAllister as R04-1-1-5-3-1, meaning that he was Emry and Abigail's first child. The data base does not show Eugene Rockwell and Lillian Irish McCollister, nor their children.
Please send me another email using your correct email address, or send a letter to me at 3800 N. Fairfax Drive, Arlington, VA 22203. Thanks. Bob McAllister, Query Editor, CMA.

Surviving brothers prospered, with one son founding Pennsylvania State University and another becoming Surveyor General of Pennsylvania. Directly descended from Somerled, Lord of the Isles in Scotland.

James McAllister [sometimes called Jimmy 'the miller'] was from the area of Tavnaghoney, near Cushendall, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland. Five of his eight children emigrated to the Greenpoint area of Brooklyn, New York in the 1860-1870s and started the tugboat company that is still in business today. Hoped to find some new information, but it doesn't look promising, not many McLesters.
This is a wonderful website and I have enjoyed it thoroughly. I am only now beginning to research my own family tree.
I was checking information on the internet about the Viet Nam war in regards to my brother Wm. Dennis McAllister who was killed in action in 1968. I came upon the CMA site and was delighted to see some information that included my brother's name amoung various McAllister's who served in the war.
Delighted to find a site for the McAlisters. We have a "wean" of us here in Northern Ireland, mostly in Co Antirm and Down, originally descendants from the Plantation Period when the Scots came to "settle" Ireland. All good folks! Look at the settlers period for the Scotch/Irish connection. We were here before we thought to go to America and beyond! Best Wishes
thank you for this page . if you are a mcAlister from monterey calif.please email.

I will be travelling to Scotland in September 2002. Anyone know where the McAlister Clan originated from? Where is a good area to visit? Thank you, Terri
My cousin, Thomas McAlister of Abilene, TX and I have researched our lineage and have established that we are part of the PO1 line of A.C. Mc(7 generations). My husband and I are heading to Scotland on April 2, 2002 and plan to visit Glenbarr Abbey during our visit. I'm so excited. I can hardly wait! This is our first trip to Scotland. We'll be staying in Edinburgh. I would appreciate any "travel tips" from fellow Clansmen or women. I'll renew my Clan McAlister membership when I return. Verlie
Type in the name McCollister Family on the search bar, and click SEARCH. It will bring up loads of websites for McCollister. Just keep searching until something looks interesting. You will find what you're looking for ,I'm sure. That is how I got started on my family and now I have found all of them.
I am quite the novice at genealogy. If anyone has advice to get me started, please write. My brother and I are the last generation of McCollister to be raised on Apple Creek Prairie (White censored, Illinois, Greene County). My Grandparents still reside in White censored. The earliest ancestor I know of is Marcus Sanders McCollister of White censored.
I found this website through my brothers homepage. It is very interesting.I knew there were alot of us. I guess I just didn't realize how many. Feel free to e-mail me.
Just moved to Atlanta from England. Anne, my wife is English and we have a family of 4 children: Matt (16), Mary (14), Martha (6), and Melissa (1). We are trying to get adjusted but need help. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have visited the McAlister Clan Center at Glenbriar on Kintyre near Cambelltown. My ancestors, Angus McAlister still takes people throught the Abby, I think. Does anyone know if he and his wife Jean are still there?

I'm a McAllister on my mother's side and our family has been in the States since the 1700's. Richard Wesley is the most common given name in our family( my brother's and my grandfather's names are both Wesley). But I was just wondering if any one knew about the Coats? All I know is they're a breakoff of the Farqharson clan and thats it.
This is soooo cool!! I didnt think there were so many ways to spell the name "McAlister"!!

This is wonderful.... I just stumbled across the site. My mom was a McAllister from the Hot Springs (Garland county) Arkansas area. Our clan is having a family reunion in June, at a resort just outside Hot Springs. My grandparents were James Richard and Tempe Belzona Hughes McAllister. We have a large family and just lost our last McAllister uncle last week. He was ninty-five. I'm not the historian of our clan, but do plan to forward your site info to the cousin who is. We will probably all join. Happy Valentine's Day to all!
My Thanks to Dr. G. Eric McAllister 9399-McAllister Clan for referring me to this site also David McCallister

It was almost eerie to stumble across this site-I have recently just lost my Grandmother Violet Gibson-McAlister(married to Jack-now deceased)My Grandmother was very proud of her husbands heritage she used to say our family can be traced back to "Bonnie Prince Charlie"(through one of his Mistresses).I have passed this address around to family members, and i know they will be very interested,I know my Grandmother will be quite happy to look down and see that we will be keeping interest in our family history alive.
I am a Scottish woman living in Norway my name before marriage was Macalister. Do you have any clan members with the same spelling of the name as I do. Would be interested to hear from them
Your website is fantastic! This inquiry my seem odd but i'm in the process of writing my first novel and am interested in obtaining information on the history of the MacAlister clan. The novel's setting is Scotland 1071 (highlands). I've research everywhere but my findings are limited to Scotland's general history. Though most helpful, the information i've gathered doesn't particularly descibed the highland people and their way of life during the 10th-11th century. What i'm looking for are the achievements, battle victories, etc. of the MacAlister Clan or any impacts the clan had made to the region during this time period. I do hope you can assist me with this research or point me to helpful links. Thank you in advance. Sincerely, Abby
I just found this web site.I'm currently researching my family tree here in the Philadelphia-New Jersey area. I have found information back to my G-Grandfather Thomas McAlister who came to Philadelphia from Ireland in 1884. I have not been able to get any more information about what port of entry he came through or the ship he traveled on or the home town in Ireland that he came from. I am looking for help on where I can look to get more information. Looking forward to hereing from CMA
After visiting many sites, I feel like I found the real thing. I have been searching for family info on and off for the past couple of decades. I will be back to use your services. Glad you're here.

From the census of 1900 Wetzel County, W.Va. I found his Father to be a Charles A.(Ambert?) McAlister and his Mother as Martha J. My cousin has gone on this information to find 2 Brother's, William Russell b. 25 Aug. 1852 and married to Lydia Springer ,21 April 1872, a Thomas W. b. 4 Jan. 1856 and married to Emmeline(Emma) about 1880. It show's their Parents as Robert McAlister b.7 Dec. 1810 and married to Martha Jane Duncan 1 Jan. 1844 in Trumbull County Ohio. Robert's Father was a William McAlister married to a Mrs. McAlister (?) about 1810 in Va.. Does this sound right to anyone out there?I have other information on Temple's life in Ohio but nothing about his family before Ohio other then where he was born and picture's of his father's farm in W. Va. If any one could help us we would surely be gratefull. We know he was of Scotch background.
Hello! I have a pretty complete family history for my grandfather Patrick McAllister. He lived in Cincinatti, OH. He is now deceased. He immigrated alone as a young man to the USA early 20th century. Contact was maintained via letters to his relatives back home. I would love to share this with anyone. Jill
I have been tracing my father's military history, and while he did not receive any great award or distinction. I believe, like many other McAllister's, served his country well. I would to try and gather together some of McAllister military histories. So plase help me to gather information, not only about great heroes (I believe anyone who will serve their country when called, is a hero), but about the experiencies of McAllister servicemen and servicvewomen, and those that stayed at home and served there countries, either through actual combat or the stories of those that stayed at home and carried the burden of not knowing!!. So please help me to gather information on the service to their contries that the McAllister's have made. If this project is sucessful, I will submit it as an article for forther distribution within our FAMILY

Are there both Scottish and Irish McAlisters?
Is there an equivalent McAllister Clan devoted to McAllister's from Co Antrim in Ireland? We have a tradition that a James McAllister came to America in 1784 "on redemption" with a man named Macrone (which I assume is McCrone).
not sure what to comment curious about McAlisters form my area
Mery Chrismas to all the Clan
Peace be with all my fellow clan, greetings from geordieland. Have a wonderful 2002.
Very insightful page was able to find some interesting information.
Test 11/26
Great site! I bought a McAllister book some time back but the interaction through a group like CMA is a great way to learn about our ancestory and share it with our children. Keep up the good work. I will be joining soon..
Very Interesting, well written. Thank you for the effort!
It is really great to be a McAllister!!! Has anyone else noticed how often you hear the McAllister name being used these days in movies, like "Home Alone" and TV shows, like "Pasedena"?
The page was very interesting so i thought id sign your wee bookie! Thanks!
Interesting story and site. Not many other Wallace comments eh?
Thank you for this fine article. I was warmed by your comment about the magnanimity with which Wallace met his fate, & the need for Scottish identity being as great now as in his time. My own ancestry, including Selfridge & Bell, is a bit murky, but given my impassioned response to bagpipes, I've no doubt I'm a real Scot.
I liked the article...
I just discoverd this site. Thank you.
I am an Allison with links to the McAllister clans, but have no idea which branches. I would like to know if anyone can give me ideas to know where to start?? Thank you.

I have admired the stories of William Wallace for quite some time now. It would be great to knoe if my family had any connections to the great people off Scottland.
I was just curious about my family history, and did a search. I am told that my great-great grandfather (William K. Wallace) came to America just before the civil war from Scotland. I have no idea about my family history, but I find some of this is very interesting.

I live near the birthplace of William Wallace. he was born in Elderslie, its a town only a 30 min drive from my own home town. William Wallace was a true Scottish hero. not forgetting, Robert the bruce. Rob Roy mc,gregor, & many other true Scottish hero,s . too many to mention. Freedom to all who are persecuted for what they stand up for.

Hi! I've found this at www.irishsurnames.com - these little articles are about the variants of Alexander, and they include McAllister: Alexander: The name Alexander in Ireland was brought into the country by English and Scottish settlers who emigrated to the Province of Ulster in the seventeenth century. It is in Counties Down and Antrim that the majority of descendants can still be found. Variants include MacCalshender and McAllister. McAllister: The name McAllister in Ireland is taken from the native Gaelic Sept MacAlastair who settled in Scotland only to return to Ulster in the fourteenth century as Gallowglass warriors. It is in Ulster and in County Antrim in particular the majority of descendants can still be found.
Thanks for the website. This really helped with my project. I will recommend this website in the future to my friends and family. Thanks Again, Kelly Mcallister p.s if you could help me find some info on my ancestors I would apperciate it. My grandfather moved to america when he was 17 and I belive he changed the spelling of his name when he came from McAlister to Mcalllister.
Thanks for the website. This really helped with my project. I will recommend this website in the future to my friends and family. Thanks Again, Kelly Mcallister
this page is good
Dia dhaiobh! Hi! First of all I must tell everybody that I'm not from any Celtic origin :(((( , but I love to know more & more about Celtic (either Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Cornish or Breton) people. And somehow I feel a bit of Celtic spirit in myself. And it was so great to find a homepage of the clan that has a surname which sounds like mine. It's a great pleasure and it makes me proud... That's all I wanted to tell... Slan agus beannacht! Zsolt
I really like it!
Hello, When I was a small child my grandmother, Ida Wallace Brill (born in Pennsylvania, her father from Scotland)) used to tell me that I should be proud and stand up for my rights and the rights of other's because through her I was a decendent of Sir William Wallace's family. At the time I didn't know what she was talking about, but I knew it was something good. As I got older, after she had passed away, her words still echoeing in my thoughts, I read about my distant relative. Everybody has to make their own mark on this world (hopefully a good one), I'm proud to be related, and I'd be lying if I said it doesn't inspire me. Good health and good luck to all that live for the betterment of mankind.
As a former student of GLASGOW university,Scottish History, and a fan of Wallace, I must congratulate you for a quality piece of work.
I Think lad im part of your family in some way. Long Live The Scotland and William Wallace !!!
you r web page on William Wallace was very helpful in my repot, as well as for my own understanding of my ancectry, thank you
Interested in knowing more about my ancestry- Fascinated that other McCallisters know so much and have so many stories about theirs. Found a McCallister Castle on the web...looks like a neat place to visit in Scotland. Thanks for this site!
Would like to know if I'm related to any clan. I'm very proud to be Scotch/Irish. Wonder if I have relatives in Scotland/Ireland?

Was pleasantly surprised to stumble onto this site!
Very nice site. I work for the British in naples and my Boss is from the King's own scottish borderers, Maj Frank Morton from Edinburgh. I'm an America and can trace my clan with the Stewarts of Appin. Good reading and thanks.

MY COUSIN AND MYSELF ARE SEARCHING FOR OUR ANCESTORS. MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER WAS MARY MCALLISTER OF CUSHENDALL. SHE MARRIED A JAMES A. AGNEW OF NORTHERN IRELAND. THEY HAD ONE SON JAMES AGNEW. HIS MOTHER AND HIM IMMIGRATED TO CANADA WHEN HE WAS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD. SHE HAD A SISTER NELLIE MCALLISTER WHO ALSO IMMIGRATED AND MARRIED A MCDONALD. THEIR FAMILY OWNED A HARDWARE STORE IN CUSHENDALL. IT WAS GREAT TO READ YOUR STORY AND WOULD LIKE TO HEAR ANY OTHER INFORMATION YOU MAYBE ABLE TO GIVE.
I come from Stirling which is the home to the Wallace monument and was interested so see so many McAllisters out there.
excellent site. i am very interested in wallace.
I would just like to say that coming to your site was a real thrill. I love reading about Sir William Wallace, and his adventures and quests for freedom. I am doing a report on Sir William Wallace in College. I must ge as much information as I can to do so. The subject we had to pick from contained this.. "Great freedom fighters, before the 1600's". I picked William Wallace, because I related to Braveheart so much. After watching Braveheart for the like 700th time, I decided to read up on him, and I have been a fan ever since. Thank you Casi Gunter
We are two brothers near Toronto, I am Rob, 15 years old, My brother Michael is 6, looking for relatives in the United States; Any McAlisters Please Reply.
I have always had a curiosity about historical figures. I know how much the media and movies are able to distort the facts. However, they are able to bring forth figures which do get a person to think, and then research the truth!
I am glad to see that our American cousins are still maintaining an interest in the history of their ancestors. Scottish history is a subject dear to my heart. Thank you for taking the time to compile the web page.
Enjoy your website so much. Just returned from a McAllister Reunion (#26) in Free Union, Va.(near Charlottesville,Va.). Keep up the good work with this site. It's great.
Your site is a great resource for MacAlisters worldwide.
Enjoyed your website. My father is also from Lincoln County Tennessee.
I watch movies like Braveheart and it intrigues me into wanting to learn more about heros like William Wallace. My heart breaks when I learn about the fighting and all the pain that some people have had to go through just to gain freedom--I take mine for granted because I was born into it. When I see things and read things that tell me of people's courage like his it empowers me and then again, makes me feel completely helpless. I hurt when I see other people struggle for what is their God-given right. I wish I could help more...
Thank you for sharing information about William Wallace
Great site. I have just started to piece together my families genealogy. Your site provided me with alot of insight. Thank you.
Yours is a most interesting site. I have only recently begun to look more closely at my family history. thank you

I've been following our family tree for some time from an Aunt (91 yrs old) whose been the historian of the family. I am the last Canadian discendant of Richard Dickson Macallister whose family tree migrated from Scotland to the US New Bedford area. The family was quite prominent in the states and I have documentation that the family is registered as son's and daughters of the American Revolution. It is eronic that with such a rich American history my greatfather who married a lovely American girl Josephone moved to Canada... and that brings the family finally to me.
Three cheers for "Clan McCalister of America." This is the neatest website. And about the neatest thing since sliced bread. Keep up the good work.
I am trying to find records of great grandparents originally from the Johnstone,Kilbarchan area.
Great to see this site taking hold worldwide!! Has anyone seen or heard from my father? He answers to "Mac". If you know of him, let me know!! (Hi, Dad. You're the greatest.)
I will come back to this site to find out more about my family history. I don't know much about this side of my family, so maybe this site will help me find out were i come from.
Great Website. I am just starting to trace my family (more difficult as I already know we have used 3 spellings of McAllister), so this site is a great help. Keep up the good work and if anyone has any links to McAllisters from the West coast of Scotland, let me know!!
Just started tracing my father's side. I'm very new in geneaology and still learning. My grand father was Sanford Augustus McAlister (b.Oct 1865 d. 1935) a son of either John or James A. Looks like a fun site I'll spend more time as I have it.
I'm looking for anyone who may be related to my Great-great-great-great grandfather John McAlaster and Katherine (McGregor) McAlaster married in 1773 in Kintyre Scotland. One of there sons was my Great-great-great grandfather Donald MacAlester born April 24, 1774 in Campbeltown, Scotland. There is a Charles McAlester & Elizabeth (McGrigor) McAlester, and their son Samuel McAlester born Jan 3rd, 1770 that are related as well. Samuel McAlester had a son Samuel born in Kilcalmonell & Kilberry, Scotland on Sept. 20, 1812. Is anyone related to these people? If you have anyinformation that would help me please send me an e-mail. Thank you very much. Also thank you to CMA for the great web site!
I was glad to find this web site. I am from Canada and have been back to Kintyre Scotland last month searching for more information on my relatives who came to Canada and the USA in 1830 and 1840. I would like to become a member of the Clan Mcalister of America. I have lived in America in the past, however now live in Tokyo and Hong Kong. I now have a book made up of 350 pages of information on my family dating back to about the 1750's in the Kintyre Scotland area. I hope to find out more and maybe CMA membership can help me. Thank you for your web site, It's great. Best regards, Ken McAllister

I am originally from Zimbabwe and would like to trace any known Mclisters that settled in Zimbabwe or those who are related to those that settled in Zimbabwe. My Father was Hugh Mclister and his Father was from Australia also called Hugh Mclister
Found this website after a search re W Wallace plus Edward the 1st etc. Of course there was a lot of 'artistic licence' in Braveheart, but then it was for entertainment, not as a historical drama.
I wish i knew who all out there is my blood relation?!!!
Thanks to Paul McAllister for his cogent yet polite remarks on the CMA Guestbook. Good manners are an outward expression of good intent. I appreciate and enjoy the significant difference in tone of his remarks as compared to Mr. Horne's, not to mention Mr. Horne's dismissal of fact. Although my family has been in America for many generations, I must agree with Paul's assessment of the English drain on Scotland. (All reputable historical accounts I have read also agree with it.) Thanks again.
Well done on an interesting site.
Having just read the comments of Horne..Lord of Wakes, dated Thursday, July 12, 2001, I felt compelled to write the following. Sir William Wallace was an honourable, brave warrior who fought for his right to freedom from English oppression. Anyone who fails to admire his love for his country is surely misinformed. As for the comments regarding Scotland's independance, I too want to see stand alone from the English. Why is Scotland the poorest country in the world to have discovered oil? Why was Scotland targetted for the much hated "Poll Tax"? Scotland, like Wales has been systematically dismantled by English governments for generations. The illusion that Scotland cannot stand alone was portrayed by the English in a bid to profit from Scotlands natural resources, (including water). I take great exception to these comments, although Scottish mistrust of anything English is encapsulted within them. Sir William started the fight, and hopefully within the next few years his and our dreams will be realised and we will finally be rid of the English Leeches who have kept our country down foro far too long. Let's see if England can survive without the Scots to rob from.
I was doing some research on Sir William Wallace and came across this site, just wanted to say hi to my American cousins overseas.
Och aye me lads and lassies, greetings from cuda and army, well i will always remember william wallace for i am a celt (irish\scottish) and im proud of me blood and i no that maybe in another time i fought in his army cus i would without a doubt if ye ken well i would like to comment on wallaces sword the five foot six steel monster "its a brute and a butte" well i live and die for ireland and scotland so if theres ever trouble just call on big cuda
My mother's maiden name was Eleanor Louise Sanders. Her father was John Randel Sanders, Jr., son of John Randel Sanders, Sr. His father was Hampton Sanders. His father was Eli Sanders. Family lore and traditional food say we came from "western" Scotland.
Re-visited this web site yesterday and found articles of interest to me. I'm researching my maternal grandmother's ancestors, she was Dorothy Alison Macalister who died in 1965. Her family are from Devon before that Liverpool, before that Paisley and before that Bonhill area in Scotland. I'm currently tracking back to scottish Macalisters pre-1700 with some difficulty! I shall be sending details into your database in due course.
I was born of William Hover McAllister and Lurline Ritch McAllister in Beaumont Texas. My father was from Ruston La. and his brother was John McAllister in Bossiercity la. Just wanted to say the history of William Wallace is truly fasinating and I would love to here move about him if any new information should arise.
Delighted to find you! I'm descended from the "Tugboat McAllisters" (G06-1?), and we are cousins of the Charleston (SC) McAlisters ("the one-L cousins"). My g-grandfather, John Edward McAllister married Katharine O'Brien (daughter of Dublin revolutionary William O'Brien, whom I've been researching). Their eldest daughter, Margaret Mary (b. circa 1903), was my grandmother, who married William Whelpley, also of New York City (Anglo-Catholics)--the O'Briens & (Co. Antrim) McAllisters were Catholic too. Margaret had two younger sisters, Katharine Mary (b. about 1906), and Mary Louise (b. 1917). Their Uncle Bill, William McAllister, was the other brother (with John) of the McAllister Bros. Tugboat Co. in NYC (never heard of the Robert in your journal's TOC--their father maybe?). Margaret (McAllister) Whelpley (who died in 1973 or 1974) had 3 children: John Edward, Kathleen, and Marjorie Ann--Kathleen is my mother. I've printed out the membership form and will send it in with a more formal account of our line, with dates filled in and maybe a picture, if I can spare one! Cheers, Candice
I am interested in Charlotte Co. McAllisters Would also like to know the date of the next Clan McAllister gathering.
It is very interesting to see all of these Mcallister's (especially the ones with two L's) since this seems to be a fairly uncommon last name in my area!!
Having studied my ancestors battles with the Scot from Stirling to Culloden I find the myth/story of William Wallace in all he was supposed to have done a little hard to swallow.Like all Scottish stories they grow and grow ever since stealing the story of King Horn in the 13th century and claiming it originated in Edinburgh as nine ballards calling it "Hind Horn" As an Englishman I am already finding it hard to understand why we have a government in England riddles with Scots and yet they think they have independence to which we bolster them with £9 billion per annumn--I am all for Scotland for the SCOTS and would like to see them try and survive in their own land. So although I think the website is interesting I cannot agree woth tattered halo of William Wallace and he was very rightly Drawn and Quartered at Smithfield where my ancestor Robert Horne on the 23rd August 1305 witnessed the end of this man.
i am the granddaughter of walter h. mcallister.i am really interested in my family history.anyone nearby greenwood,sc please respond.

hello it's me again. "see haggis with different sized legs" as a point of interest. my surname has two l's. my fathers had one. the reason was my mother, in the west of scotland. one l denoted a "traveller" so my mother ensured myself and eight siblings had two l's in our surname. at the time of my birth {1950}it was not socialy acceptable to be a "traveller" hence the addition of the second l. the fact that my grandfather and grand mother listed there addresses as "a tent on the hill at tignabruich" as there place of residence, at the time of marriage still does not convince me that they were travellers!!!
WONDERFUL READING..
I'm a wargamer and I'm particularly interested in medieval armies. Your excellent articles have been very useful to me. Thanks and keep it up!

I enjoyed the site very much and was glad to have found it. I am searching for the ancestors of my grandmother, Martha McCallister. Martha was b. 7-3-1901 at Garretts Bend, Lincoln County, West Virginia. d. 11-12-1938. She married Elzie (Elza) Walter Ferrell. I have her father listed as Alford (Alfred) McCallister b.abt 1877. The mother of Martha as Julia Ann "Annie" Lawson, b.4-27-1877, d.3-25-1962. If you have any info, dates, etc. please email me. Thanks.

Outstanding page and great information. Thank you so very much.
Having a hard time finding my ancesery on the McAllister side.
Grandson of Olive Bell McAlister, of Wilford C, of Charles, of James.
Hi to all CMA members and staff. I appreciate all that you do for us McAlister's! We have to stick together or we will loose someone in the process. I am A09 line and hope to see more articles soon in the quarterly journal on my line. I recently sent some pedigree's to add to the line. Hope they helped. Bye for now, Les.
Nice to see the name so proud.
I just stumbled upon these pages and thought I would check them out.
it is wonderful to see so many people taking an interst in our mcallister heritage
i think this site is very good. i also loved the movie Braveheart and couldnt believe one man was able to stand up for what he believed in against the english.i had no idea Wallace was a real historical figure until i watched the making of Braveheart where they talked about Wallace and his success in defeating english armies for freedom. though the movie wasnt as acurate as the real Wallace, it was still very good and deeply touched many people(including myself).
I am very pleased to find this wonderfull site as i am trying to trace my ancesters. I know that some of them moved to the U.S.A. many years ago.
It's a real neat site!!
I have only been going to ancestry.com and rootsweb.com this is the first I have found this site . It is good to see other people in the The Love of Family
there is quite a history about the mcallisters that started a tugboat company in new york in the year 1864.they are desendents of jimmy the miller.i was wondering if you had any information on that part of the family.thank you
Facinating. I am on my way to the UK next week and hope to visit the Kintyre area to learn more. I do have records dating back to the 1700 that show a relative in the Virginia/North Carolina area. Supposidly, that is where the first US McAllisters landed. Write if you would like those details.
keep up the good work!
Hi, I am with the J12 line and I just wanted to say hello to all my "cousins" out there. This is a great site and the Journals are very very interesting (if your not a member - you really should join - that is how I found what line I am in, I saw a picture of my cousin Don from Maine in a picture from a reunion (1998-I think). Anyway, to all of the people who keep this website up and all of the other stuff - you are doing a great job, keep up the good work. Dawn McAlister, J12, RI
Nice site ! I didn`t know there were that many of us. I moved to Germany a few years ago and am actively trying to make more of us. My immediate connection is from and around Lochgilphead, Scotland - pretty much the tradional Clan Lands.
Just saying hello.Sorry dont have an e-mail address. My ancestors are from Northern Ireland and their name was MacAlester.I dont really know much else as my grandparents are both dead.By the way the name MacAlester was used by the clan MacGregor during the proscription of their name,so some of your members may be related to the MacGregors.
Fantastic website, a lot of very informative information about William Wallace. If anyone is looking for more information on this most heroic of characters I would like to recommend Nigel Tranter's novel The Wallace.

Hi i've just read your page, glad to see people from as far away as yourself took the time to write about the "just cause", i've just watched the film braveheart again for the 26th time,"f**king superb" film. now maybe people will know why we scots hate the english with a vengeance, and we still fight for our voice!!!. anyway nuff' said. thx
what a wonderful website... i've learned more here in a few minutes than hours on other sites... just attended the scottish festival in arlington, tx this past weekend and it has my husband all fired up about sorting through the branches of the mcallister tree... i'm clueless about genealogy so i've no idea where to start but this looked a good place... with so many spellings of the name its rather confusing... but, my husband's name is ollie lee mcallister jr... and it would appear this paticular branch of the family won't be extending the name further... our daughter married and grant and we were unable to talk her into a hyphenated mcallister-grant last name... apparently jennifer kathleen mcallister-grant is just to long to fit on a form... haha... would love to hear from fellow mcallisters... wishing everyone a happy trails

I am a descendant of Rev. James Alexander of Raphoe, Ireland. He is the farthest back I can find on my family tree. I know that the family originally came from Scotland.

Good site. Hurrah for Bonnie Scotland! God save the South!
Hey All McAlister's out there!
My grandmother became Mrs. Jeannie Lockhart after she married Mr. Alexander Lockhart on the date JANUARY 1921 at the LOUGHMORE PRESB. CHURCH in the NORTHERN IRELAND AREA.
(I DO HAVE THE ABOVE INFORMATION BACK AT HOME) SO I'LL GIVE BETTER DETAILED INFORMATION ON THE MARRIAGE LATER
Her maiden name was Jeannie McAlister born march 03, 1903 In or around the city of Belfast, N. Ireland
Her father was Thomas McAlister Her mother was Sara McAlister (Makee) I HAVE PHOTO.
Jeannie McAlister was the youngest of seven children born. I can and will dig up the names of the siblings. I have their names and who they married, where they moved. Most of them moved out of Ireland. Plus the names of childen. Some details I can remember off hand. Like for example... Two of her sisters married two brothers. (Carlisle I believe were the brothers name). I would like to document a story my father has told me over and over again about two of the brothers (later I will give the names) in WWII, assigned to different platoons yet met in hail of gun fire on Normady beach. One was walking in a daze while the other brother spotted him, and was able to run and get him to saftey. An amazing coincidence.
I just moved, and so most of my things are in cardboard boxes. So I will try to unpack my notes for this side of my family ASAP. Meanwhile, although you are busy...Is there any particular area of research I should concentrate on to give you? This is the first time visiting this site so I do not know exactly how I can best be of help.
Sincerely,
Alexandrea Lockhart - my e-mail address will be changing but for now either use the address that this was mailed from.

MY Father and I have just started to research our conecction to clan McAlister and would like any assistance to help in our research, I know our family has been in the USA since before the civil war and have been residing in Western Pennsylvania for many years. i am very excited to find your page and will put it in my favorites. Thanks for any help. John S. Alexander
I have enjoyed your site very much and have added it to list of favoutites. One item I must take exception to, is the one relating to the Haggis. What nonsense, everyone knows they have four legs. In the West of Scotland the can only run in a clockwise direction around hills as the two right legs are far shorter. However in the East the reverse is true. The Haggis that tastes so good is from ones that have cross breed, and end up with four legs the same length. So when the try to follow the families running round hills. Either clockwise or anti clockwise as the case may be. They overbalance and roll down the hill where they are able to be caught. Hope this clears up this point.

Phinneas Mc Alister came to Birmingham, Alabama as a young man 18 years of age, around the post Civil War recostruction period. He homesteaded real estate properties which later became the City of Birmingham's George Ward Park, as well as properties which were sold to Robert Jemison of Mountain Brook. Phinneas was a building contactor, rental property lord, and real estate speculator. I, John AG Hollingsworth am his great grandson. Any of you Mc Alisters who know of Phinneas, if and how we're kin or otherwise, are welcome to speak up. I will not honor or entertain any allegations of Phinneas' philandry, past gambling debts, due paternity recompense, ner taxes on old whiskey stills, or consumed Scotch whiskey. Otherwise, please feel free to speak your mind. :)
Thanks so much for having this available for research on family origins. My family is from the Kennedy branch of Scottish Kennedys and when I was a child my aunt brought a tartan from our clan and we were told that there was a Kennedy castle in our past. I would love to know if anyone out there is a long lost cousin. My grandfather was William Leroy Kennedy and resided most of his life in Beaumont Texas. He was married to Mamie Burgess Kennedy (his second wife) and had four children named Pinkard, Dr. Willie Kennedy Verniaus, Lt. Gen.(Ret) Roy Kennedy and Martha Abby Kennedy Conway. Anne Talbott
my name is kelly and i am a high school student. For the past five years, for some reason i am just really in the mood to learn as much as possible about william wallace. I think he was a terrific man, and wanted nothing more but to have freedom for himself and for his countrymen. I am hoping I will be able to go and see the life size statue of him. If i will be able to do that i feel that i will be complete. i have am just thankful that you guys/girls, have a wonderful website of him, and thank you for creating it.

Looking for relatives of Robert Howard McAllister, b. 24 April 1867 (in Mississippi?), m. Sallie Chessher on 23 May 1894, d. 15 September 1949 in California. Their two sons were Raymond Eugene, b. 6 October 1896 and Robert C., my father. Any relatives of Robert H. or Raymond E., please contact me.
What a wonderful resource. My daughter has just begun to look into McAlister genealogy and she found this site and has already received information taking her back another generation. I had to visit the site to see it for myself. I wish I could find a similar site for lines that I am working on!
I have only recently become aware of the man called William Wallace. I found this web page to be very enlightening. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
its nice to see so many mcallisters
I was born in Dunfermline, Scotland in 1987. Ever since I was seven Years old my interest with William Wallace has grew over the years and Iam proud to say that he is and always will be my HERO. LONG RULE THE SCOTTISH!
I would just to say that I have nothing but admiration for this great man.Unitl I had watched the movie, Braveheart by Mel Gibson, I never really understood the real meaning of courage. Of course, Mel Gibson could not have accurately portrayed William Wallace as he actually was but nonetheless I have a rough picture of what the real man was like. William Wallce was a hero to many and I am one of them.
I like the web site. Many interesting articles on our clan. I hope to trace my heritage all the way back to Scotland some day.
Very impressive site. Good luck with the reunion this summer. I hope you're blessed with good weather for the event.
Would like to hear from any other McAlisters. Anyone know where I can find a JPEG of our tartan.
I have traced my family line back to Phillip Alexander who settled in Woburn, Massachusetts, in the early 1700's. I am very interested in hearing from other descendents of Phillip Alexander.
Great site! Anyone knowing of a Saunders/Sanders McAlister connection in Southeast Missouri around 1880, or of Saunders/Sanders in Scotland - I'd love to hear your info!

Sir William Wallace reminds us to love our country and fight for her freedom coz living without liberty and keeping ourselves under slavish bond indeed can give us life but for a while. Aside from that, one important thing to be learned from William and must put inside us is to use our hearts and our minds in whatever battle we are into.

After viewing the tapestry known as Braveheart, i now admire William Wallace. If the rest of the world had any sense of patriotic pride and courage the world would be a better place. It would probably have alot fewer people, but a better place none the less. To wrap it up Wallace is well deserving of his fame and should rightfully be recognized as one of the greatest pure men to ever walk on God's Earth.
They pervided me with great knowledge
great to see so many McAllisters spread throught the globe, best wishes all.
I'M IMPRESSED, 'THE TRUTH BEHIND THE MAN' DID NOT DISAPPOINT BUT IS WITNESS THAT HEROIC MEN LIKE SIR WALLACE DID EXIST, THANK YOU. I WATCH THE MOVIE BRAVEHEART AND WANTED TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT SIR WILLIAM WALLACE. WHILE THE MOVIE TOOK A LOT OF LETS SAY 'POETIC LICENSE' IT DID SEEM TO CONVEY THE HEART OF THE MAN AND HIS LIFE. THE COURAGE OF HIS CONVICTIONS AND ABILITY TO BACK THEM UP WAS INSPIRING. THANKS AGAIN, I KNOW I'LL BE BACK AGAIN TO FIND OUT MORE.
I'm very glad I found your site!! I'm looking for info on my McAllister ancestry, and this is the most promising site yet. I have submitted a query about a John McAllister who married(?) an Adelaide (unknown) abt. 1830. They had one child, Mary Malinda McAllister, b.09/25/1833, d.01/16/1876. She was my g-grandmother, & was supposed to have been 1/2 Cherokee. Mary married John Clark Crow in Murray Co., Ga. on 10/11/1849. Anyone with any info on this line, please E-mail me. I would greatly appreciate it, and will be glad to share any info with anyone interested.
I'm new at looking into my past family tree. I don't have a lot to work with. My brothers (John and Robert) and my self are the only living that I know of. My dad was Eugene Levis McAlister (18 Jun 1911 - Oct 1974)married to Margret Moore both are buried in Nashvilee Tenn. My dad has a S.C. Social Security Number. His Dad was Sanford Augustus born Oct 17, 1865 - Jul 4 1935 married to Eliza Mayfield McAlister born Jul 30, 1869 - Sep 4, 1935 both are buried in McCormick S. C. City Cemetery. There was a total of 11 kids in the family 7 daughters and 4 sons. Thanks for any help that anybody can give.

Letting you know there's another region with McAllisters. I'd also like to say hello to all Mcallisters out there and I also loved the movie Braveheart.
Very happy to find your excellent website and look forward to being an active clanmember. I am the grandson of Fred Thomas, Earnest Clark, John Clark, and Andrew Kincaid McCallister. I have much data including some paper and tintype photos I will be very happy to share. Also some fond early memories of Earnest and Anna McCallister at their home near Champion City, MO. Look forward to hearing from family members.
Just doing research and decided to look at the McCollister's.
There is a possibility that I am descendant of Robert Bruce family of Scotland. William Henderson (born 30 April 1676 Fifeshire, SCOTLAND) married Margaret BRUCE (b 1 mar 1679/80 Ulster, N. Ireland). I am continuing to search for records concerning my ancestry. Your information and site is excellent.
Daugher of Allen McCallister, granddaughter of James Earl "Bash" McCallister and great-granddaughter of Henry Earl "Shorty" McCallister.

I love reading stories about William Wallace, ever since Braveheart
Hello and greetings fellow Macs,(and close relatives) nice to know the mob is still around and flourishing. One querry though, I and our family were led to belive that the clan symbol or badge is the Black Ship, the sign of Somerled, the original Ranauld of Kintyre. And that the more familiar token is that of a single sprig of gorse or heather worn on the shoulder above the heart. This I will concede is the Kintyre branch of the family's custom so we may be into the same regional differences we have with the spelling of the name.
A big hello to all my fellow clansmen.
My branch of the McAllisters goes back to a Daniel McAllister who emigrated from Ireland (Draperstown, Ulster)to Glasgow back in the early 19th century. He was a shoemaker. His ancestors will have moved over from the Mull of Kintyre region centuries earlier. Any McAllisters from Draperstown, get in touch and we can have a wee chat about our ancestors.
Enjoyed the visit
Just found out a bit of family history, and discovered that the Allisons hail from the McAlister Clan. Desiring more info in trying to trace the family tree.
Like many scots, every time I hear or see any pictures or articles related to the history of scotland and it's battles my heart jumps. I love my country, and I would die on the spot for it. I'm only 19 years old, but i'm one of the proudest and patriotic people in the world. I love reading and learning about the battles of scotland. From battle plans to captures and escapes. I would just like to say thank you to all the great men who fought for the freedom of my country and it's people in the past, and that they have my total admiration and respect, and they will never be forgotten.
Great web site, we spent hours looking and reading.
I know some of my family, I was raised by another family. Thank you.

I am told we are decendents of Sir William Wallace of Scot- land through Sarah Wallace.
The following query appeared in the Sunday Atlanta American. Sept 25, 1932: "David McAllister of Georgia & Missisippi" Query #1,1489. McAllister-Nall - Ancestry desired of David McAllister born (abt. 1785) of Georgia, probably of Washington County. He married Molly Nall and moved to Holmes County, MS. His second wife was Dicey Nall, sister of Molly. Tradition says that he was the son of Jack McAllister who died in Georgia. Jack was one of 12 brothers, who came from Ireland to North Carolina. The names of Nine of the 12 brothers were: Jack, Joe, David, William, Murray, Thomas, Andrew, Franklin and Wilson. There were probably also, a John and a James, as these are common names in the family. I would also, like to learn the ancestry of Molly and Dicey Nall. Were they the daughters of John Nall (1743-1824), who was granted land in Washington County, GA. and who later moved to Holmes County, MS. The wife of John Nall was Mary Bugg? (Brigg?). I will be glad to correspond with anyone interested. The name of the lady who placed the above query is with held due to health and age. She celebrated her 98 birthday in Jan. 2001. The CMA J02 McAlister Family is still looking. The query is 68 years old and time is running short for the cousin who started this search 68 years ago. Any and all leads appreciated. J. A. Reading Up On A Well Loved HERO
Delighted to see at last a website on Wallace that acknowledges his Dundee connections. i.e. his slaying of Selby. There is a plaque to commemorate this in Dundee High Street near where the old Castle stood. He was sent to stay with an uncle in Kilspindie, 5-8 miles from Dundee and went to school in the town. An old man in Kilspindie pointed to a load of old stones, all that remains of a centuries old wall, and a gate in the wall was called Wallace's gate as the young Wallace would pass through it on his way to worship each Sunday. In nearby Longforgan there is a tradition that every cottage built on the site of one that existed in the time of Wallace would be called Wallace's Cottage. Why? Because fleeing from the scene of the slaying of Selby he was fed and watered by an old woman on this very site and the stone slab he sat on was kept for centuries in the neighbourhood and was called "Wallace's Seat." There is a Dundee connection in his youth yet most historians seem to refute the tales that have been handed down from mouth to mouth since that day to now. Good site. Nice tribute to a great man. Thanks for the privelege.
have researched as far back as g'g'father John McAllister born 1832 farmer of Ballintay Northern Ireland married to Mary nee McCurdy.
I am looking to trace my husband's family.
Thank you for the information found in the website. I have very little information on my family history. I would like to know more. Both my father and grandfather were taken from me at early ages. I do know that my grandfathers name was Milford and he was from North Arkansas. Any information would be appreciated. If anyone knows where to get a Crest or Coat of Arms My son and I would love to see one. This is a very interesting site. I will visit it often.

They had four children: Doris, Lillian, David and Harry. They ran a catering business in Philadelphia(McCallister's Caterer's) and were famous for Snapper soup. Sir William Wallace was a true Scottsman and Iam also part scottish on my mother's and my father's side of the family.
I have watched the movie Braveheart and everytime I watch it, I get touched. I dowloaded all of the songs from the soundtrack and researched all I could about William Wallace. Thanks a lot for having this on here so I can be even more educated about the hero Willaim Wallace.
I am from the J43 LINE. I would like to thank you for all you help.

To: Larraine Lynch Subject: William and John Wesley McAlister. The reply to your query of 2/6/2001 on subject was returned. Please send corrected E-mail address to CMA Genealogy Committee.
Great work by Bill Worth and company! Why am I not surprised? My family is descended from McAllasters a few generations back, and the help in discovering this lineage in my genealogy has been invaluable. Thanks Bill! God bless you and your family.

Trying to find ancestors of William J. McAlester or McAlister who was born in Ky in 1814, married Elizabeth Holcome about 1833 in Bell County, Ky.. Moved to Sebastian County, Arkansas in late 1830s. His son, James Jackson founded the town of McAlester, Oklahoma. Any information would be appreciated.

I'm glad to find this site on my 5th gt-g-father's family. Daniel McAlister of SC & MO was father of Nancy who m. Aaron Crosthwait Jr.
I am glad that I found this site. I am picking up where my father left off. I have managed to trace our linage back to a John McAlister who was born abt 1760 on Islay, near Kintyre, Scotland. I was able to place him in Williamsburg County, South Carolina where he married a Jennett Cooper in 1781. I have hime dying about 1808 still in Williamsburg County, S.C. I have managed to find so information linking John McAlister to a Charles McAlister who was born about 1722 in Islay, Scotland. Anyone who has inrmation that could assist my searches would be greatly appreciated.

hey! interesting and useful. thanks a lot. your site will be mentioned in my bibliography.
have never ran my family lines back past my Grandfather David Campbell who settled in North Carolina around 1895 and moved to West Va with his Cherokee Bride around 1905
I'm 4th genreation Celtic. Grandmum'm's a McKiernan from County Cork, Irish Republic, married to an Indian/Canuck. There's some talk that our paternal/family name is a bastardized translation of the Celtic "Halbert", but there's not much to back that, 'cept for the ache in ny midsection when I hear bagpipes. Anyway, I loved your synopsis of Wallace. Anyone who amy know on origins of our family name, please feel free to respond.
a amazing site, like so many people, hard to belive there is so many "mcallisters" trying to track any mcallisters who emigrated, from Derry, or possible Scotland from 1820 onwards.
to all the relatives..erin go bragh
I have just read the account of The Wallace and found it very interesting. There were many details and facts about his life, printed in this account, that I was not aware of. I enjoyed it very much. My ancestors were suppose to be Scottish, and I enjoy reading all I can get my hands on, pertaining to the history of Scotland.
My great grand father was Robert Norton McAllister. He moved from NY City in 1900's to Atlantic City New Jersey area where my family lives today. I's like to trace my family before the 1800's. I know that we are from Scotland amd Ireland

Very informative and enlightening. Very interesting story on a hero to the land I would love more than anything to visit.
I have recently learned that Hamilton McCollister was my g-g-g-g-grandfather. I was happy to find this site and learn that so much information is available on the McCollisters. I would love to hear from any other of Hamilton's descendents.-- Thank you for making all of this available to everyone.
Just visiting tonight - browsing the site once again after a long absence. I've been off chasing ancestors from a different line. I look forward to and enjoy my journal each time it arrives........always checking for any news of the J12 line. I visited Scotland this past summer and enjoyed every inch of it. We got to attend the Tattoo in Edinburgh, which was spectacular. Just wanted to say.......hello to all of you.
Just happy to find you. I am looking forward to becoming a member and finding my missing links.
THIS WEBSITE IS POSTED TO MY FAVORITES.THANK YOU ALL AND A JOB WELL DONE.
Alot of my fathers family came from the South Carolina area.
The Quarterly Journals are fabulous and this site is also very valuable. I especially enjoy reading documented research telling us about the times, the places and the personalities of our kith and kin. My husband is a Colvin and I am the researcher. We recently discovered a huge family cemetary in Alabama full of Colvins, McRaes, Picketts, Farrior's, McGehee's, McLaurin's et. al. This is in Bullock County just south of Montgomery on the way to Union Springs in a place called Shopton. Possibly others with an interest in Alabama will write me. I await the next juicy morsel of new information waiting to be discovered and then shared by all. Beth
Dear Sir, found you site very helpful and well done, which has added me greatly in a report I am working on. Thank you. Pierre
want to thank you for the information on Thomas McAlister from Clinton,PA...would sure like to hear from other McAlister's.. thanks again..
First time to visit site. Amazing! My maternal grandfather was William McAllister from Owen Co., KY, born 10-8-1890 to George and Liza (Covington) McAllister. One of 9 children, others were John, Bob, Luke, Homer, Jim, Julie(married a Smith), Sam (died 2-25-46) and Raymond (died very young). Would like to hear from anyone who might have more info.
Thank you for this site. I have only family stories to tell me that I am of either Irish or Scottish OR BOTH descent on my father's side, ( my mother is all German). I appreciate such history, and have retained a strong feeling of admiration for William Wallace. I have this site bookmarked. I once again thank you for creating this site. Long Live William Wallace, Long Live Scotland!! Much Love to all. Sara
Hi there just another McAllister from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada joining your site
Just one wee thing I must tell you - Dunluce Castle is not known locally as McAlisters Castle. Kenbane Castle was last was owned by the McAlister Clan having been given it by the MacDonnells of Dunluce....Kenbane was lived in until 1700's, the last person to live there was a Mrs. MacAlister.
My great grandfather was Randolf Mac Allister of Arlington, Mass.
just found out about your organization and am sending in my application to join.
I RECENTLY HAD THE CHANCE TO SEE THE MOVIE "BRAVEHEART" IT WAS VERY INTERESTING, I HAVE BECOME INTRIQUED WITH THE HISTORY OF GREAT BRITON AND IRELAND AND SCOTLAND. THIS HISTORY OF THE 12TH TO 17TH CENTURYS, FASINATES ME. THE INTERNET ALLOWS ME TO INVESTIGATE THIS PERIOD OF HISTORY. THANKS BILL PALMER
I thank you for this wonderful site. I had no idea that I would find such a site. I was on the genforum when I decided to look up my McAllister name and found this wonderful site with all this info. I hope that I can benefit from the info that is sent to me here shortly. Please help me. I'm sending in my membership today! God Bless, Les.
Thank you for extremely enlightening information regarding William Wallace. A statue of him is in the Botanical Gardens of Ballarat, which is in Victoria. Christmas Day we began discussing the man himself and I am hoping you may be able to clear up this "argument"! I say that Wallace was not a very tall man..approx 5'5" but my daughter and son-in-law tell me I am wrong. They believe he was approx 6'2"! I seem to recall he was considered of incredible strength as his sword was like a ton weight! Appreciate your input here *S*. May 2001 be a good one for you and yours!
Great piece on Sir William Wallace, who was a true Scotsman and a patriot of "Freedom".
Wishing all the McCallisters a Happy and Prosperous New Years
very proud to be of Scottish decent
I just saw Braveheart and I loved it sooo much I know that I'm a mixture of a lot of things including, German, Irish, English, Mexican and I wish I was Scotish too! I really love History and I enjoyed reading about Sir William Wallace. The actual history is so different than Braveheart, but both are nice.
Got the DVD of Braveheart for Christmas so went searching online line for more info on Wm. Wallace and came upon your site. Very nice. Enjoyed the poem by Burns. Thanks.

I've been looking for facts on my family name for quite some time and this page has been one of the greatest helps I've ever had Thank you very much for posting it.
Excellent history lesson. Thank you very much.
My Great-grandfather (John Paul) was adopted into the McAlister family. Unfortunately, we do not know of our previous lineage through him. My father was the last to carry his name as John Paul McAlister III.
My Mother was adopted by a Sarah McCallister & William Miller in 1900. In the front of her Bible is a listing of Sarah's family from Canada. Sarah's father, George McCallister was born 1/7/1840 in Scotland. Sarah's Mother, Sarah Watt was born May 14, 1842. The siblins of Sarah are:Margrett Jane, b. Oct. 28, 1860: Mary Ann, b. March 27, 1864: Martha, b. Feb. 22, 1868: Sarah, b. March 14, 1873: Isabell McHattie, b. April 6, 1875: Allen McCoug, b. Jan. 7, 1879: Jahn Archaball, b. May 9, 1882: Kate Rogers, b. Oct. 6, 1883: David Ruthford Wall, b. Nov. 13, 1885: Janett, b. Aug. 27, 1888. This is all I know of this family. Maybe it will help somone. I hope so.

Recently spoke to Jerry Lloyd from Georgia. He is a member of CMA. He suggested that I find out more about the Clan, since I was able to trace my ancestory back to Richard McCallister, born in Ireland in the 1700's. I will be sending an application soon. Would like to hear from any WVa descendents of Richard McCallister.
I am currently married and living in Provo, Utah although a native Englishman. I thoroughly enjoyed your commentary on William Wallace. Thankyou. It will certainly help with an up and coming school assignment. Yours Sincerely Simon Greathead

I have often been questioned about my ancestry, and lack answers. I hope to learn more in times to come, but until then, I'll just keep saying "I'm not sure yet", with hope.
I recently saw a comment from someone who doubted the size of Sir William Wallaces Army that you mentioned in your stories and tales site. I did a little checking on a battle wherein I could find numbers and found one which took place at least 1000 years before Wallace. The Battle of Camulodunum pitted the Romans against Queen Boudicca/Boadicea or as some say Big Boad. The Bretons numbered 100,000, the Roman unit, commanded by Paulinius, numbered 10,000. Big Boads Army fought naked and covered in blue die known as "woad". The Romans, well organized, defeated the Bretons who weren't. The whole mess started over a lack of Roman respect for Boad who was tied up and lashed before a crowd and she vowed vengance. We often think that the ancient world was not populated enough to field large armies, it was. A Greek military manuevering force known as the myriad consisted of 10,000 men, which is about the size of a modern light infantry division.
Those McAlister's are hard to trace. There's about three different sets around here.
Best wishes to all McAllisters from Germany. There aren't many of us around here - it's great to read about all you folks in America. I am a lawyer and member of parliament in Lower Saxony, Germany (www.mcallister.de) David McAllister
I did a search on McAllister family history and this is what came up. Awsome site!
My ancestors came to SC around 1760. Alexander McAlister, along with several Campbells, settled in Old Pendleton District in SC.I would love to know more about Clan McAlister.
Interesting site there are numberous McAllisters, McCalisters, and McAlister's in this area of the State

paternal greatgrandmother's maiden name McAllister Searching for family and any info. Not much to go on.
I am a descendant of James Blanton McAllister on my mother's side. She was Rachel Lydia Carroll, daughter of Roderick Wallace Carroll. His mother and father were Isabella Anne McAllister and Thomas Marion Carroll. I discovered your existence through a cousin I did not know I had until this past week--Stan Carroll. I am ver happy to know about this organization and plan to join.
My mother's maiden name was McAllister and the family lived in the Lanarkshire area of Scotland (a mining and steelwork area now known as Strathclyde.) Her father, Archibald McAllister ( 1871- 1957, was a prominent local figure, active politically and one of the founding members of the Scottish Labour Party (now the ruling political party in Britain, but then representative of the working men and women of Scotland and later, England.) My grandfather's youngest son Gilbert became a Member of Parliament for Rutherglen in the 1950's and was active in the pursuit of the ideal of world peace. Gilbert's mother (my grandmother,) was, like her husband, active in the Cooperative movement and was appointed to serve on the Food Advisory Council to Lord Rhondda, the first food minister during the first world war. Archibald had 2 daughters (now deceased) and 4 sons (now deceased), one of whom died in a tragic fire accident in a steelworks at the age of 16. There are no members of the immediate family now living in Scotland though there are a few of us Stewarts (my mother's married name) now in Manchester, England and various McAllisters (descendants of Gilbert McAllister's) scattered across the globe. May I raise a glass (a wee dram) on behalf of all on this side of the pond to all ye McAllisters over there in the good old US of A! Cheers fergus Stewart
I'm the sister of Donald McCallister. We are CMA 1141 Line J43

Looking for information about siblings of my grand mother Ann Mac Allister, born in Cleland Sct 1870 , daughter of Patrick Mac Allister & Alice Stapleton (married 1850? in Scotland).Ann married John Thompson in 1870, had 7 kids & he died 1905 in Glasgow & she came to US in 1920's.
Big hello to all McAlisters. I come from a large clan of McAlisters steeped in the plans of Oklahoma. My Father was Jerry Charles McAlister I, Grandfather was James Williams McAlister.
I live in Somerset and have never heard of any McAlisters ever moving to the US
Originated from Cape Cod, Mass. USA where all my Macallister relatives still live.
nice 2 c so many taking such an interest in their heritage. keep it up
In my previous msg I forgot to mention that I was also a descendant of John (Jean) De Cessna who was a French Hugenot and that he fought in the Battle of Boyne in Ireland. My Ggmo Rheuwama (Cessna)Sanders. She was the wife of Joel Cornealious Sanders(My Ggfa not GGfa). She was the dau of Oliver Cessna and Martha Ann Baughman. So I guess I have several Scotch/Iris links as John Cessna married an Irish? or Scotish lass? Stan
I've enjoyed what I have seen. But I'am still lost. You see I carry Sanders/Saunders blood. But I just kinda stumbled on to your Clan site because there was no list of any kind that I could look at for my Sanders/Saunders Surname and as to what clan it might be a part of or if it even had one of it's own. Then you always have the possiability it could be German. Though I dont think mine is. But I dont know that to be a fact at the present time. But it seems like I remember the mention in my Family history that it said something abt the possiabilty of tracing the line back to Gwen? the King of Scots. Its been so long since I read it and my memory sure isnt getting any better. I have been working so hard trying to find my Riddle's I haven't even had time to think of my Sanders/Saunders line which is my grandmother Riddle. They say that my GGfa Joel Cornealious Sanders always claimed it was Saunders. I descend fm Joel Cornealious & Mary "Polly" (Fox) Hills of the Hills of the New England States. Stan Brookshier, Sr.
I'll look in again sometime to learn more about the clan
Greetings to all McAlisters!
After seeing the movie Braveheart, I began surfing the web to find out more about Sir William Wallace & King Robert de Bruce. I appreciate your concise but very informative histories of these two men. In a world that is bowing down to globalism, it is inspiring to read of the lives of men who were not afraid to stand up to tyranny. Thanks for the information and keep up the good work. Michael Sigurd Olszta Of Polish & Swedish Decent
I am very happy to have found this web site. I am a decendent of Willam Frazier McAllister, brother of John Daniel Thompson McAllister. Both came west with the Mormons in the 1800's and settled in Salt Lake City. John Daniel settled in St. George and became the temple's president. My great grandfather settled in Kanab, Utah after identifying the location of where Kanab should be established for Bringham Young in the 1860's.

Great work on the CMA site. I wanted to let you know that I put together a website that has a page devoted to my particular J43 line, as well as MacAlasdair history in general, including info. on Alasdair Mor, etc. It is not finished yet, and at the moment only has my family info. on it, but check it out, and soon I'll have the info. all typed up. I look forward to hearing from ya'll (any of the spellings). The address is: http://www.texas.stangnet.com/custom.html Thanks, K.D. McCallister
Nice site, very interesting! Loud hello, to Mac Allisters everywhere!
interesting site, first time here just wanted to say, Hi
Yesterday I attended my first Highland Games. It was really cool. There were athletics and dancing and bagpipe competitions and it was all just really cool. I still got the music playing in my head now. I met the fellow who is the chairman for the state of Florida for the Clan McAllister. He asked if my wife, and I would march with them in the March of the Clans and of course I said I'd be honored. When the time came he hands me the McAllister flag and says I'm to carry it in the march. I thought I was gonna die. I couldn't believe it was happening. All in all, it was a great day. One I'll never forget, as long as I live. Thanks for the great site. Wonderful info. And P.S. Hi to my brother, Daniel, up there in Indiana. Miss you all lots.
I was not able to get to the query site to look up my ancestry. Could you please let me know if there is another way to get there or when will this be fixed. I never knew my ancesters came from Scotland. I feel this is very interesting to know. I like histry and I would like to know more about the wars and the hard times that have happened to my ancesters I really appriciate this sight and want to say thanks for the input I always thought I originated from Ireland. This is very interesting stuff Thanks Daniel McAllister
This site is cool and I would like to know more info about where I could go to find out more info. I am aware that it is in Atlanta GA but where and when.
My Grandmother on my dad's side was a McCalister before she married a Chaney. There are still McCalisters in Pulaski county KY. When I have more time I will send my data.
Periodic update
I am 25 years old and come from a large McAllister family from Kilrea in Co Derry. Difference is I am Roman Catholic which differs from your info, but I am sure there may be some connection. My family were from the Boveedy and Gortmacrane areas.
I am seeking information on my great-grandparents, Wilson H. McAllister and Sarah Elizabeth Bartlam who lived in W Virginia and Virginia during the mid to late 1800's.
This is my first visit to this site. I would love to find out more about my family geneaology, which now ends with my grandfather. I was born in Sumter, SC. My father, Luther Hayden McAllister, grew up in the Turbeville, SC, area. He died in 1988. My grandfather was John McAllister. I remember him only from Manning, SC. He died around 1965. I have heard the family name used to be spelled as "McCallister"; then my grandfather saw it misspelled as "McAllister" on some document, liked it, and changed the spelling. I had two uncles, both deceased: "Zeke", a deaf mute who was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Sumter, around 1960, and John, who died of a heart attack in Florida around 1975. All of my McAllister aunts are still living; Maude Ester McCabe, Linne Mae Weeks, and Francis Hill, all of Manning, SC, and Aris Mitchum and Valerie Wilder, who now live in Florida. I would appreciate any guidance you can give on how I can learn more about the family tree. Thank you.
The last known McAllister I have Is:Charlie R.McAllister b.11-11-1858.md.Elizabeth B.Granger Taylor f/o John Crittendon McAllister md.Eva LAmbert They were in Magnolia,Ms.Would really like a connection to the next generation!any help at all will be appreciated! Thanks Terry

My wife and I have just returned from a trip to Scotland,England , Wales, and Ireland. While in Scotland we stayed at Glenbarr Abbey, The McCallister Castle.
The annual Scottish Festival is this saturday the 23rd. of September at the Williamsburg Winery. The McAlister brothers will have a Clan tent. The Honored Clan is our own Clan Donald. Hotel rooms are $45 per night at the Best Western Westpark (757-229-1134) and Quality Inn Outlet Mall (757-565-1111)
I have often wondered where my ancestors originated from. Until I came across this web site, I was really not sure. I will be sending in a membership form right away. Thanks, Tom McCollister
From Armoy Co Antrim N. Ireland c 1890{s} Robert Mcallister~California.
I'm a professional actor and writer. Family members encouraged me to write my autobiography a few years ago. It's now in print under the title "Surrender the Jealous Mistress." As a result of this experience, I have started compiling data on my family history in hopes of someday putting together a book targeting my heritage. My father was Lorenza Everett McAllister (mother, Margaret Buchanan) and my grandfather was William H. McAllister, both of Morven, GA (20 miles west of Valdosta).
My parents moved from Coffee County, GA to Atlanta, GA two months before I was born. In my whole life in Atlanta, we were the only McAllisters listed in the phone book. Now, I can't believe there are so many McAllisters. It is such a pleasurable shock. Old family tales have it that our McAllisters came from Scotland but never knew for sure. Still looking.
Born Delaware. Father, Robert McAllister, from North Carolina.
I was born at Fort Bragg North Carolina in 1959. I was raised in Tennessee (where my family is from) near Nashville. I have lived in CA for just over one year. I am glad to have found a link to the past!
Haven't finished looking it over yet, so was holding comment till then, but if you insist. It looks nice so far.
A very informative and interesting site you have here. I have an auntie who lives in illinois, whose married name was Baumgartner, and she had twelve children! It would be nice to get in touch with some of them.If any McAllister's would like to make contact, please do.

Looking for McAllister, or McCallister with links to these counties in Missouri; Howell, Texas, Shannon and Butler. First names George, Eugene,or George Eugene, Vernon, Roy and Clyde. George may have lived in Kentucky before Missouri and George Eugene may have lived in Kansas or Oklahoma, or both. Eugene, or George Eugene, may have died in or around Poplar Bluff.
